Jay Watson, Joe McKee, Grace Woodroofe & Cam Avery @ the Moon 18 January 2012

Last Wednesday I messaged Eliott Avery – come and see your stinky brother play – or words to that effect. And for some reason he said yeah. So I picked him up and we went to the Moon. City of Lights Ready for Angels: Place De Anges - Coming Soon to PIAF!

So there’s a date to lock in, and I mean lock it in. It’s February 11, and it’s the PIAF (Perth International Arts Festival) celebration show Place De Anges by French company Les Studios De Cirque. Previous years have seen performances involving fireworks on the Swan River or an aerobatic suspension of thirty people making shapes in the sky. It’s quite evident Perth’s good weather allows for such shows, and encourages large crowds to flock to the city.

In 2011, Lance Robinson and Germaine Jones formed Broken Royale. Spending the rest of the year writing and recording they formed a unique sound which they loosely describe as 'electro garage rock pop with a twist of saw tooth'. After performing acoustic shows they formed the live act which consist of some of Perth's finest musicians. January 23 see's the first release for Broken Royale which is their debut single 'The Swallow' which features an explosion chorus of electro rock regression.

Life in Miniature

in northbridge

Cramped, cosy, cool contemporary dance.

Want to test drive life in a caravan before you take that trip around Australia? Anything is Valid Dance Theatre, a Perth-based contemporary dance company serves up their unique perspective of a road trip in the confines of a caravan at the 2012 Perth Fringe Festival.

Life in Miniature explores the great Australian caravan holiday, an experience to be endured or embraced. Reflecting on the inevitable experiences of spending long periods on the road, interactions become magnified and reality becomes distorted as two friends living out of a caravan try to survive the elements… and each other.

Funny and poignant, this is an engaging work created for an intimate audience that invites you to reflect on life on a small scale
